Bird Problem: Fresno State University completed a new Science II Building and swallows immediately noticed the new potential for a nesting colony. The swallows set up residence quickly, building their mud nests and making a mess of the building walls and walkways below. When Bird Solutions was first called to inspect the bird problem it was too late to remove the nests because eggs had already been laid and swallows are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act which prevents nest removal until the birds have abandoned the nests. Swallows build their mud nests in the corners of windows and overhangs on Fresno State University’s new Science Building After the birds had departed on their annual migration, swallow nests were removed and the BirdSlide bird control product was installed to prevent swallows from building their nests again the following year. BirdSlide cuts off the angle of the eave that the swallows like to anchor their nests in and the birds leave to find a more desirable nesting area. This bird control product can also be painted to blend seamlessly with a building’s architecture. |
