San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant

Problem:
Gulls, other sea birds, and some problem pigeons were landing and spraying bird droppings all over the cooling towers, pipes and walkways throughout certain areas of the plant making plant maintenance extremely difficult in some cases. San Onofre called The Bird Control Experts at Bird Solutions, International to resolve the bird problem in the worst areas.

Solution:
Daddi Long Legs, a unique bird control product that is perfect for rooftop bird problems, was installed all over the towers and the pipes to deter the birds from landing. The Daddi Long Legs allowed for maintenance access and has blunt tips to prevent injury to workers, which was just as important as solving the bird problem! This bird control product effectively deters pigeons and larger birds from landing on protected areas, but is easily removable for maintenance access.
